Does her heart yearn for flowers? Declarations of love? Rivers of diamonds or clusters of coloured gems? Or simply a watch to wear every day? With a week to go before the year’s most romantic rendezvous, here are ten watches every woman will love.

Love springs eternal. Each year, on February 14th, we join Cupid in celebrating romance. Valentine’s Day is when watchmakers can show that they have feelings too, with outpourings of flowers and flamboyant diamonds. It’s also the perfect opportunity for women watch enthusiasts to shoot a few arrows in the direction of the timepiece of their dreams. A dozen long-stemmed roses will only fade, whereas a watch is a constant reminder that there is always time for love… and that any day is the perfect day to give (or receive) a beautiful timepiece!

Fall head over heels for the Villeret Saint-Valentin by Blancpain

It’s all there: a mother-of-pearl dial sprinkled with diamonds and rubies, a charming moonphase display, diamonds circling the bezel and a heart pierced by the arrow-shaped tip of the seconds hand. The Villeret Saint-Valentin in steel speaks love’s language even down to its oscillating weight. A limited edition of 99 pieces.

Feel your heart flutter over the Château de Motiers 40 by Bovet

If it’s your belief that love will always shine through, this watch is for you. Elegantly encased in pink gold set with diamonds, the mother-of-pearl dial reveals a stunning floral bouquet created in phosphorescent miniature painting. A watch we can only describe in glowing terms, brought to life by an automatic mechanical movement.

Give in to the Serpenti Twist by Bulgari

Clearly, there is no way to resist the charm of the fabulous Serpenti Twist which coils itself twice around the wrist. A novel variation on the snake theme, a bracelet composed of seven pink gold chains transforms this fascinating watch into a fabulous jewel.

Lust after the Panthère by Cartier

This 1980s icon pounced back centre-stage when it made its much talked-about return in 2017. The Panthère de Cartier reappears this year on a triple-wrap bracelet in pink gold and with a smattering of diamonds. Guaranteed to leave its (paw)mark on your heart.

Be in a spin for the Happy Sport by Chopard

With five diamonds dancing happily across the dial at each flick of the wrist, the Happy Sport line is something of a tease. In white gold, simply polished or set with diamonds, it features an ingenious interchangeable strap system. Be still my beating heart, but not those flirtatious diamonds!

Say "I do" to the Marguerite by Christophe Claret

“Everyone says I love you”? None more than Christophe Claret whose Marguerite watch reiterates its message of love in a new 37mm diameter. The principle is unchanged: a press on a pusher reveals a secret message while two butterflies flirt with each other, showing hours and minutes in their pursuit around the dial.

Set your heart on the Ocean Valentine’s Day Automatic 36mm by Harry Winston

Harry Winston strikes a chord with this mechanical jewel, swathed in white gold, round or baguette diamonds and mother-of-pearl. As swift as Cupid’s arrow, a retrograde seconds hand sweeps a heart-shaped counter, with its carpet of rubies, sapphires and diamonds. Were there ever any doubt, Harry Winston reminds us that diamonds really are a girl’s best friend!

Take a shine to the Cape Cod by Hermès

Mirror, mirror, who is the fairest of them all? Suffice to gaze in the rhodium-plated dial of this Cape Cod, which has been polished then finished with translucent lacquer to create a stunning mirror effect. Add a double-wrap Milanese bracelet and the answer is staring you in the face.

Be dazzled by the Tambour Slim Metallic Flower by Louis Vuitton

A flower that will never fade? A dream come true thanks to this supremely elegant watch. So as to recreate the iconic floral motif, a craftsman has engraved 60 Monogram flowers fanned across the silvered dial. This stunning decoration sits within a steel case, in three sizes from 28mm to 39mm.
