Luxury and influence have long been intertwined. Within social media, few individuals succeed in reshaping self-identity and behaviour of online consumers. With ‘Tastemakers’, we aim to uncover these new authorities, whether they are creators or ‘coolhunters’. Today, we welcome Larissa Bruin, founder of From Hats to Hills.

In 2016 only, Larissa Bruin travelled and led projects in 9 different cities, from Tokyo to Berlin. A daily inspiration for her more than 78,000 followers, the psychologist turned stylist muses fashion all over the world. In her own words, she says she looks for the extraordinary – not just in fashion, but life. ‘May it be vivacious…’

In this extraordinary interview, Larissa shares with us her vision of the world.

Time: What has been your most special milestone?

My most special milestone was to work together with Glamour Magazine USA on an ad that was all about my closet which my father built for me when I moved to my own home. It was just at the beginning of my fulltime blogging career and it was such an amazing way to thank (and surprise) my father for the surprise he had built me.

Style: When getting dressed, when do you put on your watch?

I put on my watch after I’ve put on my clothes and before I put on the rest of my jewellery. I think it’s fun to play with contrasts here. Sometimes you want the watch to match the rest, whilst other times you want it to stand out.

Luxury: Is there a watch which matches a specific place?

Yes there is actually! I have this watch that instantly has me thinking of white houses and white beaches, a place like Santorini. Why? I do not know. Maybe because the rose gold details and the blue plate make me think of the ocean. Maybe because it brings up memories that I still have to make. Or maybe simply because their beauties match.

Watch: Picture year 3000. What does a futuristic watch feature?

In the year of 3000 a watch will be a hologram that one can evoke by tapping the identity chip in their pulse (uhuh, just wait and see). Then real local time pops up. The font and look can be customized or bought from brands through an app. However, I would regret if it would look like this, because I’d rather customize the strap and wear it as a part of my outfit than just use it as something practical.

People: Who are the faces you like to spend time with?

I like to spend time with my friends and family; people who think and act like me and understand me. Also, these are bright happy faces and faces that make me laugh, love and live.

As we have often pondered like Larissa, each watch casts a memory whether past, present or for the future. Discover Larissa’s blog fromhatstoheels.com and on her social channels: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
