Blancpain aims for the heart
The adornment of this 29 mm timepiece is designed to celebrate the traditional lovers’ day. Its steel bezel and lugs are set with 68 diamonds, while the mother-of-pearl dial features eight. The seconds hand depicts an arrow symbolizing the transmission of love. Its tip is red, a colour synonymous with passion. A heart adorned with 19 buff-top rubies embellishes the delicately shimmering dial at 12 o’clock. The buff-top cut was mainly used during the Art Deco period for jewellery models, and occasionally in recent years on watch dials. It reveals the rounded upper part of the gem and thereby enhances the radiance of the dial by allowing the light to penetrate more fully into the stone. The lower part of the ruby refracts the light like a facetted stone. The sapphire crystal reveals an openworked white gold oscillating weight adorned with a snailed bevel, polished angles, as well as straight and circular Côtes de Genève. The Manufacture thereby demonstrates the full extent of its expertise by combining these delicate and sophisticated procedures. The Blancpain logo engraved on the oscillating weight echoes the main dial element and also adopts the colour of love.
Jaquet Droz, love's eternal circle
In the grand tradition of embellishing dials with precious jewels, something Jaquet Droz does with panache, this timepiece showcases astorite – a rare gem from the United States. A single, hand-cut and hand-polished piece makes the result visually spectacular! On a pink background sparkling with gold and silver inclusions, and black flecks and veins, the dial is transformed into an authentic tableau of contemporary art worn on the wrist in 35 mm. The legend of John Astor becomes a part of Jaquet Droz’s own legend; astorite, a stone named in Astor’s honour, comes from the Colorado mine that belonged to this entrepreneur who perished on the Titanic.
Limited to 28 pieces, this rare and precious watch, the Petite Heure Minute Astorite, epitomizes feminine elegance. The pink of the astorite reflects the richness of the red gold case, ring and hands, and the soft waviness of white mother-of-pearl.
Harry Winston, still my beating heart
The dial of the Premier Precious Love Automatic 36mm timepiece reveals a mesmerizing and dynamic composition of overlapping hearts emanating from a floral motif located in the upper half of the dial. On closer inspection, the motif reveals itself as a rose composed of heart-shaped petals pierced in the centre by the hour and minute hands. And from the epicentre of the timepiece, rays of love with vibrant heart-shaped rubies and brilliant-cut diamonds emanate in all directions.
To set the stage for this charming expression of love, a gorgeous shade of pink mother-of-pearl serves as a backdrop, which in turn is veiled by a delicate layer of lace. Diamonds have always had a starring role in the Premier collection and the 18-karat white gold case of the Premier Precious Love Automatic 36mm dazzles with the light of 57 brilliant-cut diamonds and an inverted diamond in the crown.
Like all the timepieces in the Premier collection, the Premier Precious Love Automatic 36mm is driven by a mechanical automatic movement equipped with a silicon balance spring to ensure superlative precision.
Van Cleef & Arpels, when romance blossoms
Against a deep pink backdrop, the dial of the Charms Extraordinaire Fée Sakura Watch employs several traditional skills to depict Enchanting Nature: mother-of-pearl – sculpted and painted by hand – traces delicate flowers, while the corollas in the foreground are adorned with cabochonné enamel, which gives the petals an opalescent relief effect. The fairy – in sculpted white gold – reveals diamond wings and a rose-cut face that hints at the grace and vivacity of her expressions. On the bezel, two sparkling lines frame a gradation of pink sapphires to emphasize the roundness of the 32mm case. On the back, three flowers in bas-relief retrace the blossoming process from a bud through to a fully open corolla. A charm in diamond and pink sapphires, depicting a cherry flower, completes these miniature tableaux.
Piaget, all in pink
Embedded at the very heart of Piaget’s creative signature characteristics, colour and light naturally find their place within the Altiplano anniversary collection. The dials with their graded shades radiate an original and refreshing mood entirely attuned to the codes of contemporary elegance. Feminine wrists are thus lit up by a vivid pink subtly transitioning from a more intense to a softer shade, magnificently framed by a case in polished white gold or diamond-set white gold. At the heart of these two 34 mm-diameter watches beats Calibre 430P (2.1 mm thick), a worthy heir to the hand-wound Piaget 9P movement.
