Training is an increasing focus of attention for the FHH through its HH Academy, which offers a 360° range of learning tools. These extend from face-to-face content and workshops to a new mobile application, a free download on Apple Store and Google Play Store.

Knowledge, like time, is a continuous flow in which training plays an essential role. Watchmaking is no exception to this rule, and neither is the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie which for a number of years has been placing greater emphasis on training as a means to highlight the skills associated with Fine Watchmaking and to enable more people to understand and acquire this expertise. It does this through a complete range of learning opportunities aimed at sales and marketing staff, and which extend from a basic introduction to advanced level classes. The FHH has also developed HH Certification, a comprehensive evaluation method and test that takes in every aspect of the industry. It leads to a diploma, over four levels, that officially testifies to the candidate’s knowledge of watches and watchmaking.

The "Watch Essentials" app is the learning tool for an audience that uses mobile devices to learn without limitations of time or place.

For its latest initiative, HH Academy has developed another essential resource for anyone who wants to learn more about watchmaking in a fun way: the “Watch Essentials” mobile app. A free download on Apple Store and Google Play Store, with versions in French, English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, it is designed to appeal to professionals as much as to newcomers to the world of watches. Users can learn the basics of watchmaking through a series of activities, quizzes and videos on nine themes, building their knowledge in 47 stages with minigames at regular intervals to consolidate their progress. Completing a stage rewards users with a component for the virtual watch they are building, and takes them on to the next level. The app guides learners through subjects as diverse as terminology, the history of time measurement, how a watch functions and market players. Content is devised by experts at the FHH. The “Watch Essentials” app is the learning tool for today, with the emphasis on short, interactive sequences designed for an audience that uses mobile devices to learn without limitations of time or place. As a special launch offer, the first 1,000 people to complete all the levels in the app before June 30th 2017 can take HH Certification free of charge.

The “Watch Essentials” app was recently distinguished at the annual TOP/COM awards for the most creative and innovative communication campaigns, when it took first prize in the Corporate Mobile Application category. Thanks to this new app, the FHH offers an attractive range of blended learning that is tailored to all types of use. Whether for sales staff at monobrand or multibrand stores, for marketing or HR teams, for fans of finely-crafted timepieces or someone considering a new career in the watch sector, HH Academy has the ideal solution to keep the passion for Fine Watchmaking alive and growing.
