On Tuesday November 30th at 2pm, 129 timepieces (wristwatches, pocket watches and some clocks) will be proposed for auction by Koller. What makes this sale especially noteworthy is that 85% of the lots are from the collection of Osvaldo Patrizzi and, for the most part, are being offered at 30% under their low estimate.

This autumn, Mr Patrizzi announced his decision to suspend auctions in Europe and the United States, taking the necessary time to post a clean bill of financial health and concentrate on the Chinese market – the next sale will be in Beijing on December 6th – and is therefore letting part of his stock go.

An exceptionally rare Rolex Oyster Chronograph "Jean-Claude Killy"

Of the many fine Patek Philippe, Rolex, Cartier, Vacheron Constantin and Breguet wristwatches on offer, note the presence among the 34 Rolexes (the brand with the most timepieces in the sale) of an extremely rare Oyster Chronograph “Jean-Claude Killy” in rose gold, ref. 6036 (lot 2276), estimated between CHF 100,000 and 150,000 (€74,770-112,150). Also one to follow is an Oyster Chronograph “Pre-Daytona” ref. 6434 (lot 2250), estimated CHF 50,000 to 80,000 (€37,380-59,810), along with another Oyster Chronograph in rose gold, ref. 6032 (lot 2278) expected to sell for CHF 60,000 to 80,000 (€44,860-59,810). Several Daytonas will come under the hammer with estimates ranging from CHF 9,000 to 20,000 (€6,720 – 14,950). Among the eleven Patek Philippe watches on sale is a rose gold “Automatic World Time”, ref. 5110 (lot 2271), offered at CHF 20,000 to 30,000 (€14,950 – 22,430).

Some twenty pocket watches by Bovet, Jules Jürgensen, Henry Grendon, Tiffany, Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin will come up for sale, including a hunter watch by “Louis Audemars for Leroy & Fils” (lot 2192). It is expected to change hands for CHF 40,000 to 60,000 (€29,900-44,860). Outstanding among the clocks for sale is the Cartier “Mignonette” from 1928 (lot 2175A) in enamel and lapis lazuli, estimated between CHF 12,000 and 18,000 (€8,970-13,450).

Koller’s sale of Fine Furniture on December 2nd at 10 o’clock will also feature a dozen clocks from the Patrizzi collection, not least the magnificent “Equation of Time” astronomical clock with a three-month power reserve by Abraham-Louis Breguet. It should find a buyer at CHF 350,000 to 500,000 (€261,690-411,230).

These two sales with a total of 105 lots should realise some CHF 2 million for Osvaldo Patrizzi.
