This complicated watch combines a two-tone case, interweaving 18-carat white and pink gold, with a three-dimensional architectural movement. The 18-carat pink gold middle case contrasts with the multifaceted lugs, extra-thin bezel and round caseback, all crafted in 18-carat white gold. This blend of white and pink gold highlights the watch’s detailed geometry and refined hand-finishing techniques, offering an interesting canvas of expression to Audemars Piguet’s craftspeople. The 18-carat white gold crown and chronograph pushpieces inserted within the pink gold octagonal middle case further the watch’s elegant superposition of varied tones and shapes.
The two-tone case design finds echo in the architectural movement’s powerful juxtaposition of black galvanic and rhodium-toned openworked bridges, respectively honed from titanium and nickel silver. The bridges and design elements, which contain more than 100 angles, have been finished by hand with sandblasting, satin-brushing and polished chamfers. This alternation of matt and mirror finishing provides an interesting play of light which gives depth to the multi-layered movement.
